They practically sprinted down the runway, but then the upside down trefoil came into view. Wang flipped the iconic Adidas logo, and the Originals logo as well, in a 'its not selling out if I do it on my own terms' type gesture. He drove that point home with images of non-disclosure forms with giant red Xs slashed overtop, which he put on teeshirts and everything else at the show's afterparty, which opened up following the runway with a giant sign flashing #AdidasOriginalsXAWT and #Wangfest.
He also made the entire 84-piece collection of clothing and shoes unisex, a welcomed twist that makes one wonder why more athletic pieces aren't created for all sexes.
A few pieces were available at a merch tent in the warehouse afterparty, and more will be sold at pop-up trucks in NYC Sunday, according to Vogue, but the rest won't be available until Spring.
First looks of the Originals by Alexander Wang collection were shot by Juergen Teller and feature Wang's pet models, including Hanne Gaby Odiele and Binx Walton, as well as Rocco Ritchie, Madonna and Guy Ritchie's son. Madonna was on hand to kick off the collaboration and cheer on Ritchie, creating a stir on the front row with Kylie Jenner, also there in support of sister Kendall who walked in the show.
